Ontake Method Moxa
"Ontake Warm Bamboo" is a moxibustion technique with two additional components: pressure and rhythm. A small piece of bamboo is filled with moxa wool. When the moxa is lit, the bamboo heats up and can be applied to the skin as a heated massage tool, it can be held, tapped, pressed or rolled along the acupuncture channels.
Additionally, using a metronome, these techniques can be applied rhythmically to specific beats per minute frequencies.
This Meridian Frequency Moxibustion is an extension of the pioneering work in Japan by Dr. Yoshio Manaka on meridian frequencies and the effect of different frequencies on muscle tension.
From the recipient's perspective, this is an extremely relaxing treatment. The warmth of the bamboo, the smell of burning moxa and the ticking of the metronome combine to calm and relax the mind, allowing muscular blockages to melt away.
